Automix creates smooth transitions by automatically deciding where and how to blend one track into the next based on its mix settings and defined mix regions. The key concepts behind how Automix works are outlined here:

These two pages explain the core behaviour and settings that determine how Automix performs transitions.
Automix is designed to create smooth transitions by automatically choosing where each track should mix in and mix out. It uses its mix settings together with the defined entry and exit regions to select suitable blend points within the track.
Those white lines show the entry and exit regions djay has determined for you, and Automix performs transitions within those areas instead of simply letting one song play fully before starting the next, as we typically experience with standard music streaming platforms or playback devices.
If you’d like more control over where a transition happens, you can manually adjust the Transition start point and Transition end point, as indicated under points 5 & 6 in this manual page. These allow you to define where the mix should begin and where it should finish within the track.
You can also click the pencil icon to edit both start and end points more precisely. When these are set, Automix will use those defined points when performing the transition, which makes the timing more predictable.
If your goal is very precise, phrase-locked transitions every time, Two Deck mode will give you more exact control, since you decide exactly when the next track comes in.
I understand this can feel a little tricky at first, especially when we’re trying to fine-tune how transitions behave. Hopefully this gives you a clearer picture of how Automix is designed to work.
